Today you have to do a bit of work – its time to write your Christmas cards.  Mind you, our intrepid researcher out in Victoria has discovered that the first commercially produced Christmas card was created as a time saver – an alternative to a Christmas letter.

I really like the little one who is knocking back a generous glass of wine!

What really amused me was that Henry Cole, who got someone to design and print this card for him, was the first director of the V&A Museum in London – and that he sold the leftover cards that he didn’t use.

Which just goes to show that museum directors have always been overworked and had an eye on what to sell in the shop! (I wonder if the V&A shop still sells these?)
